Horse Racing Tips - Southwell shuts down until 2013

Southwell racecourse has been shut down until 2013 after flooding left it under nine inches of water. The December All Weather fixtures have been moved to Wolverhampton and Lingfield Park with Wolverhampton hosting a 14-race afternoon and evening card on December 15th.

"We had just short of 50mm (two inches) of rain on Saturday and going into Sunday, and we've had a further 10 or more millimeters since This, added to the high water levels alongside the River Trent which was almost at the top of its banks, has caused widespread flooding in the area.," said clerk of the course Roderick Duncan.
Southwell
Southwell, which has an all-weather surface and therefore hosts racing all year round - as well as boasting a golf course - closed for five months in 2007 due to flooding. Owners Arena Leisure, who are insured, said that the previous closure cost around £6m. "Back in 2007 the Environment Agency said it was something that happened once every 50 years, but unfortunately it's only been five years, We are an all-weather track. I know that's ironic for some people that we can't race, but we are under water. This is our busiest time of the year where we normally come into our own."" said Arena spokesman Nathan Corden.
The racecourse, which has also been forced to cancel a beer festival, hopes to reopen in January 2013

The Actuary Horse Racing Tips guarantees 80 point monthly profit

Subscribers to The Actuary Horse Racing Tips got off to flying start yesterday and guaranteed a fifth day of profit.

With 2 point selection Missing Agent making all in winning Kempton Parks opener. For those that took the 5-2 when advised the win ensured the fifth day of profit with four selections to run on the remainder of the card due to My Son Max being declared a non-runner.

Missing_agent_5-2
Philip Prince takes Kemptons opener at Kempton securing a fifth day of profit for The Actuary subscribers

I felt rather bullish over our next selection Paddy Saltantes (8-1) in the belief that that the form of its last time out, when it was also burden with our money, finishing 2.25 lengths second to Aussie Lyrics was far superior to what was on offer in this race.

Paddy_saltantes
Paddy Saltantes wears down its rivals to land the gamble at 8-1

Paddy Saltantes win was not as emphatic as I had anticipated but was comfortable enough and boosted our bank on the day by 13 points with 3 remaining selections to run.

Our selection in the 6:05 and two selections in the 7:35 flattered to deceive leaving us a 10 point profit on the day and takes the months tally to +84.85 as we go in to the final day of November. With 2 x 2 point selections today we are guaranteed at least an 80 point profit for the month.

Another winning day with The Actuary Horse Racing Tips!

After a lull in activity due to the abandonment of Southwell’s All Weather cards on Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday saw wall to wall All Weather racing. What bliss I hear you cry!

After a tardy start to the month we went in to Wednesday’s three meetings off the back of four from five winning days where the one losing day was an insignificant -2.27 in comparison to +31.95 in profits.

The Actuary methodical processes offered up 12 selections across the three meetings and the start looked less than promising with the loss of 3 points in the first two Lingfield Park races.

Bay_laurel_7-1
Bay Laurel (7-1) gets the ball rolling for The Actuary Horse Racing Tips

A change in fortune and the next three selections guarantee another profitable day. Bay Laurel (7-1) started the ball rolling and wiped away our 3 point deficit to put us 4 points up. Next up was Tinshu (5-1) which took us to an 8 point profit and 55 minutes later, our next and only 3 point selection for the day: York Glory (advised at 7-2) took us to 18.5 points profit with 7 more selections to go.

I have to admit I love being in this position and although a lot would depend on how Kempton Park was riding, the satisfaction of securing a +10 points profit halfway through the day’s proceedings turns to greed at each failed selection, and we had to suffer a couple before the next hit.

Media_hype_3-1
2 point selection Media Hype (advised at 6-1) the cherry on the icing

We headed into Kempton Parks 6:00 16.5 points in profit with two selections, 1 point Harris Tweed and 2 points Media Hype (advised at 6-1) with the latter prevailing to take the days profit to +27.5 points with two selections running in Kempton Parks 6:30. Unfortunately neither selection could get their heads in front and could only fill the minor placings.

With only a handful of selections on today's evening card at Kempton we are unlikely to reach yesterdays heights but I am hopeful that we can add to the 74 points profit made so far in November.

Good Luck

Southwell Monday card lost, Tuesday doubtful

Monday's meeting at Southwell has been abandoned due to waterlogging. Clerk of the course Roderick Duncan was forced to call an impromptu 9.45am inspection on Sunday due to rising levels in several streams around the track.

That check showed parts of the track to be waterlogged and Duncan reports further issues in some of the racecourse buildings.
He said on Sunday morning: "We have abandoned - there are some parts of the track that are under four inches of water and there is water in the stable yard and it has started to come into the grandstand.
"There are several streams around the racecourse and one of those has gone over its banks.
"We are going to inspect tomorrow at 8am for Tuesday's meeting, but I have to say I am pessimistic at this stage. More rain is forecast and we will look in the morning."

Horse Racing Tips: Pace and Going highlights 21st November 2012

Well we continue to find the shorties with yesterdays ‘Pace and Going’ highlights. Honest Strike (7-1) so nearly won the prize in the first; Maltease Ah melted in the hands of De Sousa; Seemenomore a comfortable victor at an uncomfortable price; No Dominion was another short margin failure going down by a neck and the race of indecision saw our two selections Ceto and Landown Littlerock only making up the numbers.

Wait, a second, that my horse!

It was nice to be back on track today after losing 4 points yesterday and having only one winner from the three selections. Unfortunately half the field were a 'no show' which left me with around even money on Tarooq after the rule 4's.
Although I am grateful for today's profit the day promised a lot more than it delivered. Having 2 points on Honest Strike at 14-1, we were denied a 28 point pay out by a nose and a head which left me feeling a little hard done by.
Image
Honest Strike, furthest away with the red head gear, was given a mountain to climb in the closing stages but only just failed to peg back the deficit. Another two strides and the gamble would have been landed. Ironicly, the first three home were my top three ratings with SP's of 20's, 16's and 7's. Perhaps I should have been grateful for this two and a half minutes of entertainment as it was more than I got from the next 2 point selection Maltease Ah.
2 point selection Seemenomore winning, cut losses to 2 points, having taken 11-10 overnight.  However, it was the next race that shot us ahead. There was no doubt who wanted the win more in the 2:50 with three in line as they raced inside the final furlong. Luke Morris, aboard our 3 point selection Bold Marc, couldn't have got closer to a riding ban and it was his animated galvanising of the selection that won the day by a margin far less comfortable than 1.1/2 lengths suggests.
Image
Another advert for BOG Bookmakers having taken 3 points at 7-2 this morning, Bold Marc drifted in the market and returned 5-1. So 13 points in the bank for the day with 2 x 1 point selections still to run in Southwells' last two races.
To reiterate my opening statement of 'the day promising far more than it delivered', No Dominion (available at 5-2) only just failed to get up in the 14:50. Closing all the way to the line Graham Lee was only  just unable to get past Philip Makin on Royal Holiday finishing second by a neck. Finally, an edge of the seat ride as our selection Dewala (8-1) had the field at full stretch and looked likely to hold on only to be collared by 30 race maiden and my top rated Tobrata. Horse Racing Tips: Pace and Going highlights Tuesday 20th November 2012

I think we can count ourselves a little unlucky with yesterdays ‘Pace and Going’ highlights and an error by moi also played against us.

I have no doubt that Rakticate (10-1) would have gone passed Keep Calm had the latter not continually edged into the selection all the way up the straight. This can only be seen from the head on as the side on view gives the impression Rakticate is lugging in behind the winner. Even Myzamour (20-1) put up a great effort taking up the running a furlong out only to fade in to third (7 runners). Infortual refuse to enter the stalls so was withdrawn. Cockney Dancer (4-1) was the only winner of the quartet posted due to my glaring error.

Somemothersdohavem

Souter Point was the horse posted up for 5:00 although there was another highlight in the race which was missed by me. As ‘Murphy’s Law’ dictates the horse which should have also featured Somemothersdohavem (9-2) who also had stronger credentials with two highlights was of course the subsequent winner!

So enough of the sorrowful reflections on yesterday and on to today where we have 5 races of interest and 6 ‘Pace and Going’ highlights

Horse Racing Tips: Laying C&D Flops

I don’t receive many requests to add additional information to what is already on offer but after a couple of days of thought I decided in this case to relent.

The request was simply to add the number of runs that the C&D rating is referencing. This makes perfect sense and I am sure that from a laying perspective layers would be happier playing a horse that had consistently run poorly over C&D as opposed referencing a single race.

In hindsight you may feel that Fred Willetts would be a good lay proposition as the figures would suggest this is not a favorable C&D.

Having looked at the trading prices you would have to be a brave man unless you made the lay early and backed at SP but you get the idea.

I hope this will be beneficial to more than the individual who made the request.

Hitting the ground running on the All Weather!

I know many subscribers tend to focus more on the weekend cards so the pressure was very much on to provide a profitable Saturday, especially for those undecided whether they would spend the winter focusing on All Weather or National Hunt.
Image
With 13 points at stake across the two cards there could be no better start than having your first selection of the day provide the bank 15 points. Brocklebank 3 point selection (On The Money, The Actuary, Speed and Class) advised at 5-1 (SP 9-2) guaranteed we would have a winning day and that was before our remaining 7 selections had even been saddled.
Image
We went in to the next race (13:40) mob handed with three selections from the six runners and made a small profit as Tidals Bay available at 11-4 (SP 5-2) chalked up an additional 0.75 points for us. I know, I have no pride!

I would have been embarrassing with half the field running for us not to have a return. That I know from past experience.
Image
We had no further interests at Lingfield Park until 15:55 where the 2 point sole selection (Trip Handicap, On The Money) for the race was Solar Deity advised at 7-2 (SP 11-4)

After looking all over the winner turning into the straight Solar Deity looked like running out of real-estate as it reeled in the long time leader but was 1/2 length to the good at the line providing another 7 points to the bank.
A nice rest and time to catch the second half reports on the Football before Wolverhampton. Why cantevery Saturday be scheduled this way?
Image
The first race of interest at Wolverhampton was the 6:20 with our first of two Trip Handicap selections on the card Baltis Sister, advised at 7-1 (SP 5-1)  Whether it was confidence spilling over from LIngfield Park or my finely homed in play skills (tongue planted firmly in cheek) but I felt a long way out that the result was never in doubt as long as Baltis Sister got the necessary breaks. A continuation of where we left off at Lingfield Park and another 7 points for the bank.
Unfortunately that was the end of the party with Missing Agent (advised 10-1) in the 7:50 making the running and looking like a candidate for the winners enclosure only to fade dramatically once collared by the heavily backed Gworn. Finally 2 point selection in the 9:20 Eltifaat (available at 5-1) was only able to get within 1.1/4 lengths of the even money favorite to finish second.
I hope to see you refreshed and raring to go for Wolverhampton on Monday afternoon

Finally 2 point selection in the 9:20 Eltifaat (available at 5-1) was only able to get within 1.1/4 lengths of the even money favorite to finish second.
I hope to see you refreshed and raring to go for Wolverhampton on Monday afternoon
